Bialek-Class Strikeboat

The Bialek Class Strikeboat is a small but very capable warship in the servive of the Regency Quarantine Service. The Bialeks have several roles, not least of which is acting as armed J-6 couriers in the event of a Vampire incursion, carrying news of the breakthrough to the fleets. The ship is also designed to serve as a deep scout in time of war, and is more than capable of carrying out rapid opportunity strikes against small or surprised targets. The ship's long legs allow J-6 stand-off raids, or further if fuelling facilities are made available.

A very comprehensive sensor suit comprises long range active and passive sensors, denso and neutrino sensors. These give the ship versatility to find or avoid enemy forces in war, and also serve the ship well in the survey/covert reconaissance role in more peaceful times.

The ship is quite heavily armed for one its size, carrying a load of eighty half-size Syrek 'Sprint' HEPlaR missiles in a plug-in bay. Two laser barbettes complete the weapons load, making for a ship very much optimised for the strike role. A Bielek is quite capable of destroying a fleet escort if given a good shot, but must rely on surprise to survive the engagement.

A crew of seventeen share ten staterooms, all sharing except for the CO, XO and Pilot. Normally the Weapons Officer shares with the Gig Pilot, the Sensor PO shares with the Chief Engineer, the two engineers share a single stateroom, and the remaining four rooms are split between the five gunnery personnel and the troops.

The normal small craft is the 8-ton Cobalt class gig. The ship also carries three half-tonne sensor drones in docking bays under the centreline. These are normally of the Dagger type, with multiple sensors, although the single-role Missile/Drone could be carried. Bialeks on fleet picket duties have been known to carry forty-three missile/drones, filling both docking rings and the entire missile bay, but this is a rare occurance in the extreme.
